Meenachil from Mist to Myth
This journey traces the catchment areas of the Meenachil river — the lifeline of Kottayam district — to trace the river back to its points of origin. It offers a rare opportunity to see, first-hand, the streams that form at these sources, waterfalls, the plant diversity of the hill slopes, natural landscapes, ancient places of worship, and palaces.
Travelling east from Erattupetta — where the Meenachil's tributaries, the Thekkoyi river and the Poonjar river, converge — the journey covers the northern flanks of Arayanmudi, the eastern hill where both branches originate, on the first day, and its southern flanks on the second.
