Sakkir Hussain V. A., a native of Thazhathangady, Kottayam, and currently residing in Vadavathoor, is a distinguished individual who has successfully combined professional excellence with active involvement in social, cultural, and heritage initiatives. His deep commitment to history, heritage, the arts, and community service has been the driving force behind his diverse contributions.
He served for 38 years with MRF Ltd., one of India's leading tyre manufacturing companies, holding the positions of Purchase Officer and Shipping Officer before retiring in April 2026. Throughout his long professional career, he acquired extensive expertise in materials management, supply chain operations, administration, and organizational coordination.
Academically, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Materials Management (PGDM) from Annamalai University, along with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History. He has also demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in Madrasa education. Rather than viewing history merely as an academic discipline, he considers it a cultural responsibility to connect people with their heritage. Through his various initiatives, he actively promotes the preservation of local history, cultural heritage, and collective memory, while emphasizing the importance of passing these invaluable legacies on to future generations.
He has also made notable contributions to the field of music. Having trained in tabla under the renowned percussionist KPAC Thampi, he has performed at numerous cultural events and public stages. He regards music as a powerful medium for social and cultural expression and continues to participate actively in artistic endeavors.
At present, he serves as the Vice President of Kottayam Nattukoottam and as an Executive Committee Member of the Kottayam District Committee of the Kerala Centre for Local History and Heritage Studies. He is also one of the Coordinators of Roots & Roads Heritage Tour, where he plays an active role in planning and coordinating heritage walks, study tours, historical explorations, and educational heritage programs that bring Kerala's rich history and cultural legacy closer to the public.
By integrating the organizational skills gained through his professional career with his passion for history and his commitment to community service, he continues to work towards preserving cultural heritage, promoting historical awareness, and strengthening public engagement with history and heritage.
He is married and has two married daughters, both of whom are settled in Dubai.
